FOMA is a six-piece group with a focus on modern jazz and original material. Infusing classic jazz idiom with hip-hop and neo-soul, the sextet is a dynamic and powerful group of musicians, whether playing intricate, danceable rhythms, constructing interesting and unexpected melodies, or weaving exciting solos. FOMA consists of Vonne Aguda on trombone, Chris Anderson-Lundy on saxophone, David Cruz on guitar, Cole Méndez on piano and keyboards, William Dietrich on upright bass, and Jon Catanus on drums. Before coming together as FOMA, the band members have been very active on the Toronto music scene, playing a huge variety of styles, including straight-ahead jazz, indie pop, post-rock, hip-hop, and folk. Coming from such diverse musical backgrounds, the members of FOMA have cultivated a unique sound, and are dedicated to bringing this sound to as many audiences as they can.
