Hunter // Noble Scoundrel

Hey, Toronto! We're comin' at you with a BRAND NEW ALBUM. We'll be playing with our friends Noble Scoundrel and The Common Chase. This is our tour kickoff so come by and party with us!
https://www.facebook.com/events/187379438567795/?ti=icl
------------------------------------

Hunter: Facebook.com/hunterbandofficial
Hailing from Southern New Hampshire, Hunter is a dynamic four piece rock band which incorporates elements of blues, indie, folk, and alternative music into their energetic and eclectic sound. Since their formation in early 2014, the band has released two full length albums, traveled on several national tours, and received local and regional acclaim. The quartet’s live performance has been the most important factor behind their success and has landed them opening slots for national acts such as Guster and New Politics, (whom the band performed alongside at the EarthFest 2015) as well as their own headlining slot on the Anheuser-Busch Rockin’ Ribfest. Their diverse and engaging set list, which includes many covers, and songs off of their albums, has built a powerful, lasting reputation for the band within the local bar circuit and has allowed the band to focus on touring. Hunter’s live performances and high quality LP's, have driven them to win several awards including “Best New Band” (New England Music Awards), “Album of the Year” (Frank FM’s Local Music Show), and “Best Local Band” (The Nashua Telegraph). Though the members of the band all come from very different musical backgrounds, they are highly experienced, charismatic musicians and close friends who share a similar artistic vision and a passion to create excellent music. In the words of Howl Magazine’s Victoria Wasylak, “It’s open season for Hunter."
------------------------------------
Noble Scoundrel: Facebook.com/Noblescoundrel
NOBLE SCOUNDREL is the mad science experiment Dr. Frankenstein wishes he'd created. Fusing Rage Against the Machine style riff work and rhythms, raunchy blues stylings reminiscent of Gary Clark Jr., MUSE-esque synth usage (with hints of EDM) and arena filling sounds, as well as some crooked groovery akin to Them Crooked Vultures, NOBLE SCOUNDREL is not your grandpappy's old time rock and roll.
Fronted and created by ex-Tragedy's Trigger songwriter/creator and lead guitarist Matt Hersack (lead vocals and guitar), the band gets their “dark/goth rock meets EDM” essence inlayed with a sinister, cunning, and snarky stream of stabs and slashes, complete with silver tongued delivery. With years of songwriting coaching and education (including an acceptance letter from Berklee College of Music for songwriting) under his belt, Matt has culminated his entire life’s experiences into one unified and concentrated project.

New Design + Warpark + River Groves + Blem

Making the music they wanted to hear was the main goal for Jeffrey Lee, Joseph Angilletta, Melissa Angilletta, and Zachary Cattapan when forming alternative-rock act New Design in the suburbs of Brampton, Ontario in 2008. Nine years later, the band has released a six song EP, a ten song album, and they have played hundreds of shows all under the same lineup.

Drawing inspiration from bands such as American Football, Brand New, Moneen, Moving Mountains, and Toe, New Design’s music features dynamic and atmospheric sonic landscapes accompanied by memorable vocal melodies.  Flashes of New Design’s signature sound were first heard in their debut EP Burn Out The Sky (2012) and further defined in the single “The Things We Can’t Forget” (2014). However it is the band’s first ever full-length album Far From Home (2015) (recorded and engineered by Kenny Bridges of Canadian band Moneen) that best represents their emotive live sound; the one that has been captivating fans at their live shows for years.

WARPARK

A 3-piece rock band from NYC. Warpark mixes complex and intentional songwriting with dancy grooves, psychedelic tones, and punk attitude - like Grizzly Bear meets The Pixies through an overdrive pedal.

RIVER GROVES

The River Groves are a four piece that effortlessly blends indie, alternative, and a hint of punk. They weave a dynamic rhythm section with effects-driven guitar lines and a hypnotic vocal delivery

BLEM

Blem are an alternative/indie rock band based out of Brampton, Ontario. Their sound is driven by Pixies-esque guitar lines and silky-smooth vocals that will cut deep into your skin and linger until you fall asleep, and come back to haunt you in your dreams.

Blue Cougars + Support Act Beggars Waltz

Blue Cougars Bio

Blue Cougars began as an imaginary band. Adrian (drums), Erin (bass) and Nick (guitar) are Blue Cougars: a power trio that exists on the razor's edge of reality and dream. With such an ethereal and nonsensical concept in mind, it is incredible that 'The Cougz' get anything done.

The band's latest album Behind You! was recorded live off the floor at Wildlife Sanctuary Studios in April 2017. Blue Cougars' current sound combines elements of blues, jazz and rock. Mixed by Erin, the eight-track Behind You! explores classic movie monsters and their continued presence in modern society through their signature art-rock/lounge-Cramps style.

Mali and Band are making their North American Debut!

Opening Act: Tejas Menon

// Tejas
Tejas is an original pop-rock artist from Bombay, India whose music has brought together a community of people who appreciate that a singer-songwriter does not need to be defined by a single genre, but a variety of sounds and landscapes that Tejas now uses to define his own signature sounds. Whether it’s a 4-piece horn section, synthesizers, heavy guitars or just a single acoustic guitar, Tejas’ musical adventures have taken him to places that have allowed him to push well past his creative limits, all while keeping one foot firmly in pop-rock. Tejas’ lyrics speak about his own life and stories inspired by his own journey to find his own identity, having lived in multiple cities and having grown up outside his home country and his vocal delivery is pretty sweet too, echoing a blend of Craig David, Sting and Amos Lee. He has played at the biggest festivals in India including Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and Mahindra Blues Festival. Tejas’ unique approach to design and social media along with his signature musical style have grown his sizable fan base over the years to make sure his band sets are packed with manic energy and solo sets are filled with quiet listeners. After releasing his debut EP Small Victories in late 2014, and crowdfunding his new LP in a record-breaking 6-hour window, he now is ready with his follow up and biggest release yet ‘Make It Happen’.

Headliner:

// Mali (Maalavika)
Mali AKA Maalavika Manoj is a Mumbai-based singer-songwriter whose tunes capture the authenticity of classic pop from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. Her debut EP Rush, recorded live with some of the most talented musicians from the Indian independent scene such as fellow singer- songwriter and guitarist Tejas, drummer Jehangir Jehangir and bassist Stuart DaCosta, embraces the kind of warm, raw, analog sounds that are rarely heard in contemporary pop today. Put simply, it’s pure, unadulterated music that’s fresh but without the frills. Think back to the Carpenters, Fleetwood Mac and Alanis Morissette, but with lyrics that detail the experiences of a twenty- something woman in urban India. A storyteller as much as musician, Mali’s songs are inspired by people, both those closest to her and those she has encountered and have impacted her.

Canadian singer-songwriter Adam Wendler released his most recent solo album, 'Never Go Unknown', in July of 2017. The album is packed with catchy melodies, soul felt lyrics and soaring vocal harmonies and showcases Adam’s unique guitar playing style that is reminiscent of the 1960’s, yet has a distinctive modern feel.

He was also announced the winner of various contests, including radioeins’ ‘The Next Big Thing’, the Neukölln ‘Songslam’ and Something for the People’s ‘Shure Newcomer Contest’.

His extensive travels and experiences provide inspiration for his music compilations. On 'Never Go Unknown' Adam has improved by leaps and bounds, showcasing his ability to write great songs. The album is packed with virtuoso acoustic picking and strumming and a line of sway-along balladry and upbeat foot-tapping that inspires not just murmurs of appreciation but full-blooded response.

Cassie Norton and Kidgrit jump into Spring

Kid Grit:
Kid Grit is
Wesley Blondin’s expressive voice singing at times thought provoking, at times heart wrenching lyrics, accompanied by the warm harmonies of his guitar OR the miraculous amount of dirt that always accumulates on ones body after a really fun day playing outside, which in the end amounts to the same thing. Expect to have a change of heart, or atleast a trip to your heart, and maybe (hopefully) a sing along.

Cassie Norton:
At times fragile and sweet, at other times strong, bold and even harsh, this Toronto based singer-songwriter tells the stories behind her lyrics with sound. Cassie is a violinist/folk leaning tunesmith with a punk rock heart. She uses her violin, octave violin, guitar, ukulele and the sound of her own raw voice to make her words dance. Her music works best with a band of improvisers who bring their own personalities and histories, making each performance different. She is overjoyed to be preparing for this show with Patrick O'Reilly (guitar), Wes Neal (bass), Thistle Strum (drums), Tristan Murphy (vocals, accordion, trumpet), and John Williams (clarinet).

Kristen Karma

Kristen Karma

Kristen Karma’s music career has already blossomed in the pop/dance scene in her hometown of Vancouver. Now located in Toronto, Kristen Karma is no stranger to the ever growing music industry.

Even though much of her formative years were devoted to a theoretical and exacting world of ballet lessons, Air Cadets, Military Marching Bands, and The Royal Conservatory of Music, some of the only evidence that remains of her past is the neon pink tulle that shoots out from under her black corset. It’s undeniable—Kristen Karma is a band nerd. But she is a band nerd who might punch you in the face for showing up late to practice.

Her current single “Party Heroes” has her hard pounding electronic dance sound that is sure to bring your to your feet. The clever constructed lyrics and catchy beats combined heavy powerful guitar solos will leave you wanting more. Already garnering rave reviews with the infectious sounds throughout,  this sees Kristen moving into a new share of her music career.

Kristen Karma is taking control of her own destiny with a Gold Award in one hand (personally given to her by HRH Prince Edward in 2009) and a black corset in the other. She effortlessly walks the line between an organized and responsibly rehearsed persona who has spent years studying the theory behind her music, and her alter ego who cannot refrain from gallivanting all over the stage during her pop/electronic performances. Karma not only wields a certificate in Audio Engineering from Hot Sole Music, but has studied voice with Judith Rabinovitch, who has worked with the likes of Avril Lavigne and Sarah McLachlan.

In 2013, Kristen Karma was selected as one of two performers to play the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball After-party and open for Tour DJ/Lady Gaga BFF Lady Starlight in Vancouver. With rave reviews from her performance, she then went on to work with lil’Jon on her single Sirens.

In 2017, she opened for Grammy Award Winner Akon in Guelph, Ontario on his Canadian Promo Tour. Hot off the heels of her performance, Kristen was then approached and selected to play the Lady Gaga – Joanne World Tour VIP After-party once again in Vancouver after Lady Gaga’s performance at Rogers Arena.

Kristen has now teamed up with with Mark Zubek (Zedd Records) to bring you this quirky fun pop single, ‘Party Heroes’. Her previous EP, Destination Unknown, garnered critical success with numerous positive reviews, but Karma’s recordings are far from her only facet that is gaining positive attention from the press. Kristen Karma lives for the stage, and it shows. “She plays as if it’s her last time she’s ever going to be playing,” reports DJ Spencer in a review (December 2011). Karma herself recounts stories of being drawn to the stage from an early age, saying, “Before the age of five, I would gravitate to the stage no matter who was playing. If I could, I would get up on stage and dance with the singers.” It is this kind of driven and simultaneously care-free attitude that has propelled Kristen Karma deeper and deeper into a professional career in music.

Karma continues to wow audiences with her energetic live performances, and she does it all with a neon pink microphone in hand

Gert Taberner

Growing up in Frankfurt, Germany, Gert Taberner was exposed to English-speaking  culture and eventually made the trek over to Vancouver, B.C. where he decided to further cultivate his musical abilities, particularly in the realm of songwriting. With his music, Gert strives to compensate for what he feels interpersonal relationships these days lack or misinterpret: the concept of intimacy.

After completing work on his first record, he set off seeking different challenges, which led him to New York to work on his craft further. Upon returning to Vancouver, Gert has been working on a new record with producer, David Tallarico.

Heavily influenced by the likes of Damien Rice, Paul Simon, and many more, the songs on his debut EP Fallen seek to convey yearning and hope, contrasted by a strong sense of disillusionment. Recent success was found with Taberner.s EP single "In Need" which was picked up and placed in the second season of popular Netflix series, SENSE8.
